Preparing Documents for an Overseas Trip

 The biggest surprise about traveling overseas for the first time traveler is the amount of documentation that is required. It is important to make a list and check it with your travel agent or an experienced friend or family member.

Your list would include at least the following:

1. Passports;

2. Visas;

3. Itinerary;

4. Vouchers for tours, hotels, transfers;

5. Airline e tickets;

6. Travel insurance document and emergency card with phone help numbers;

7. Medical details* from your personal doctor;

8. Medical prescriptions;

9. Credit and other cards you may need to use.

This should include your past medical history and details of your medications in case of an emergency health episode.

Once you have your list and you have been given documents by your best travel agent or travel provider, it is time to make three copies.

1. The first one is for you to use as you go on your travel trip.

2. The second is in reserve, stored in a different suitcase or with your companion.

3. The last copy is given to a family member or good friend.

Included in these copies of documents should be copies of the first page of your passport as well as copies of the required visas.

To help in preparation for your trip, prepare a list of personal items you will need for the trip including clothes, medications and so on.

It is important that your family are aware of your travel arrangements.

1. Email details of the trip to all family members.

2. Give the details of your travel agent and tour operator/s to the senior member of the family, including their phone numbers and email addresses.

3. Include the addresses and contact details of all accommodation venues.

4. Produce a list of phone numbers and email addresses of your accommodation venues for families.

5. Produce a list of phone numbers and email addresses for your family for your use, either just to report to the family on your trip or for emergency purposes.

For your information, you should include for your own use a list of passwords; bank accounts, credit cards and web sites you might need to use while traveling. Keep them in a secure location on your person.

Arrange to pay all your regular household and other expenses while you are away on your trip.

Finally, have your entire documents with you in your carry-on bag. Best Travel Place
